Oh you fickle friend

Music. Oh music.

Okay, not quite that dramatic.

Two things really.

I am continually amused by my ability to enjoy any type of music. Even if I hate it right at first. (A good reason to avoid rap/country like the plague.) Many types of death metal are... interesting... to listen to at first. They rapidly grow on me. So, I now quite enjoy 3 Inches of Blood, Cannibal Corpse, Lamb of God, and Amon Amarth. Such a silly thing.

Second thing. Is how much I bounce around my music. Like, for the last couple of months it has been metalcore or death metal for the most part. All of the sudden however, I am back to listening to Godsmack. Which is a fairly garden variety metal band. (Sarah, feel free to correct me on any genre mislabeling that occurs here. =D )

Music is so strange.

Haha, you know me too well.

3 Inches of Blood isn't death metal. In fact it's Heavy Power Metal.

Lamb of God is actually shitty metalcore. (The "shitty" part is obviously just my opinion.)

I suppose you could put Amon Amarth in the "death metal" category, however any real Amon Amarth fan (like myself) would feel the urge to shoot someone in the face. They're typically considered to be melodic viking death metal which is significantly different due to the content of their lyrics and over-all style.

Sorry to say this, but Godsmack is certainly not metal. They're more of an alternative post-grunge or hard rock band. They may have a nu metal-esque vibe, but no one takes nu metal seriously. It's not even really metal.

You were right about Cannibal Corpse though.

Metal, ftw.
